Carré de l'Est is a French cheese originating from Lorraine, Eastern France. Its name is not only derived from this eastern region but also its square shape! Carré de l'Est literally means 'square of the East'.
Produced from cow's milk, Carré de l'Est is aged for five weeks and has a smokey bacon flavour. It is pale yellow and comes wrapped in silver foil or paper.
